Technical Reports

The results of different studies carried out by third parties show the particularities and characteristics of DryLyte Technology compared with other surface finishing technologies.

TECHNOLOGY

Biocompatibility proved

The Medical and Dental Device sectors require clinically proven processes and products which guarantee their compliance with the most demanding safety regulations. The manufacturer must ensure that the devices meet all appropriate requirements and in particular perform a risk/ benefit analysis and evaluate the biocompatibility and toxicity of the materials used. DLyte has proven the Biocompatibility of the products processed with its system.

Based on results, the product processed with DLyte meets the acceptance criteria of the study, i.e.:

· The viability has been superior than 70% in all concentrations tested compared to the blank control.

· The extract at 50% of the test sample has shown greater or equal viability than the extract at 100%.

· The mean value of blanks has not differed by more than 15% of the average value of all blanks.

The product can be considered non-cytotoxic. The study has been made according to the specifications of standard UNE-EN-ISO 10993-5:2009.

Corrosion resistance

The corrosion resistance of a piece of equipment is dependent not only on the selection of the most suitable alloy but also upon the correct treatment of the material during welding, cold working, and subsequent mechanical and chemical treatments of the surface. Many applications require a surface treatment to be performed after polishing to comply with the corrosion resistance requirements. DLyte is the only system able to remove roughness and improve the corrosion resistance of the metal pieces while reducing the number of processes required in the manufacturing process.

This study evaluates the corrosion resistance of a piece processed with DLyte to one processed with liquid electropolishing bath. The results show that DLyte achieves better corrosion resistance than liquid electropolishing.

The dry EP sample has a better protection to corrosion until 6 hours of immersion.

The dry EP sample corrodes between 4 to 15 times slower than the traditionally EP sample.

Additive Manufacturing surface finishing Study by Fraunhofer IAPT

Additive manufacturing is one of the most disruptive manufacturing technologies. However, one of the barriers to the AM industry growth is the surface quality achieved.

DLyte has been evaluated in comparison with 7 of the most relevant AM post-processing technologies with outstanding results.

The study analyzes the surface roughness, surface hardness, erosion rate, edge rounding, penetration depth, readability and costs.

DLyte achieves the lowest surface roughness across all the surface finishing technologies analyzed by Fraunhofer IAPT. The surface roughness achieved by DLyte is at least two times lower than the next-best alternative.

Find out how DLyte performs in comparison to other post-processing methods. Independent study on the most relevant AM post-processing methods.
